When the rhythm section is floating, I’ll float too, and I’ll get a wonderful feeling in my stomach. Lorsque la section rythmique est flottant, je vous flotter trop, et je vais prendre un merveilleux sentiment dans mon estomac. If the rhythm section is really swinging, it’s such a great feeling, you just want to laugh. I emphasize to my students, rhythm is the most important thing. Je tiens à souligner à mes étudiants, le rythme est la chose la plus importante. It must swing. Il doit swing. You can play a million notes and you can play a million chords, but unless it’s in the groove, unless it feels good, it’s not gonna make it. Make sure you’re in the pocket, and you’ll feel it. Assurez-vous que vous êtes dans la poche, et vous vous sentirez. And when it starts to swing, you get a good feeling in your stomach. Il n'est pas si grave, il suffit de passer un bon moment.

When I sit down, the way I practice, I play along with my tape recorder and go out into Trance Land. Quand je m'asseoir, la façon dont je pratique, je joue avec mon magnétophone et de sortir en Trance Land. No heavy scales, no heavy patterns, I’ll make up melodies, I’ll play licks, I’ll just play music… play along with the metronome. Pas de lourdes échelles, pas de modes lourds, je vais faire des mélodies, je vais jouer se lèche, je vais jouer de la musique… jouer avec le métronome. The metronome is perfection. Le métronome est la perfection. Of course none of us are going to reach perfection, but you can get pretty damn near close. Bien entendu, aucun d'entre nous allons arriver à la perfection, mais vous pouvez obtenir assez damn près de fermer.
