Emily Remembered Album Launch
We are overjoyed to announce the forthcoming album, Emily Remembered, from two of my favorite players in jazz, Deirdre Cartwright and Kathy Dyson, who have been working tirelessly on this project over the last year as well as touring extensively for the memory of Em. Just added, a February 3rd date at Band On The Wall, and also the album will have two live launch concerts at the prestigious London jazz club, Ronnie Scott’s on the 16th and 17th of February, 2011.
We will be posting further news of how to purchase as soon as it comes available for U.S. and international sales. Please support these live performances by two very dedicated educators and incredible jazz guitarists, who will be joining forces to invoke the spirit of Emily with intimate guitar duo performances of swing, bossa and bop arrangements written by Remler, as well as a few of their own compositions and jazz standards.
Still unfamiliar with Cartwright’s and Dyson’s names? Visit Jazz Guitar Life for a two part series of interviews conducted by AllThingsEmily with these wonderful ladies from 2010 and get to know them better. More details coming when available.

The Mike Outram Trio Pays Tribute
Jazz guitarist, Mike Outram has been an instrumental activist for Emily Remler’s memory for quite some time and a huge supporter of ATE since it’s inception. A performer, composer and educator, Outram has always taken pride in sharing Emily’s name and music with his scores of students and fans alike. Here is his trios latest homage, an ethereal performance at the cozy confines of SoundCellar in Poole England, of Softly As In A Morning Sunrise, a Remler favorite, from her 1988 album, East To Wes. Also find his transcription of this very arrangement on the Downloads and Guest Transcriptions pages.
Historic Emily Performance Emerges From Worcester Jazz Festival
The New England Jazz Society has put together an incredible and growing online library of notable jazz concerts and related material from their archives which includes an extraordinary recording of Emily from 1985 featuring some of her most intimate solo playing ever captured on audio.

Key Lime Pie for Emily
Rick Stone and his superb Jazzand quartet serve up a delicious treat for Em’s memory with this Latin infused original composition based on the rhythms from This Is Me. While Rick never got the chance to perform with her, he too is a graduate of Berklee and traveled in the same NYC circles back in the day. He has remained an avid admirer of her work and it shows in this world class tribute.
What’s in the name…. look closely and you will find emiLy there.
Lovely, vibrant song, fitting for the one it honors.
