Manchester Jazz Festival 2008 features tribute to Emily
If you live in England or plan a visit there soon keep in mind the Manchester Jazz Festival on Saturday, July 26th this summer as jazz guitarists Deirdre Cartwright and Kathy Dyson will perform a tribute show: Remembering Emily, in honor of Remler’s music. Details can be found at Deirdre Cartwright’s website below or click Kathy’s picture on the left to visit Manchester Jazz. Her memory thrives from such performances, support them if you can.

from UK’s MetroLife section where she shares a few thoughts about Emily and why there are too few women jazz guitarists. Certainly a topic that deserves further discussion and evaluation.
Play on ladies.

Emily lesson videos reissued on DVD!
Thanks to the continued hard work of the guys at Music Sales Publishing who have been busy converting great titles from the Hot Licks archives, Emily’s two outstanding jazz guitar lessons are in stock and ready to ship. Click the covers to visit Elderly Instruments for U.S. or International shipping of these new DVD lessons. We are excited about upgrading our jazz lesson libraries and relishing the opportunity to listen and learn from Emily’s remastered presence once again.
See the Videos/Songbooks page for more details.
These titles are now widely available from a variety of sources.
New studio songs from Emily emerge
The biggest news of 2007 comes from distinguished New Zealand drummer Frank Gibson who was instrumental in this reissue of visiting American Jazz artists to New Zealand during the early ’80′s that includes two new unpublished songs from Emily, her last ever studio recordings on 4/24/90.
Visit Frank’s site for details about the project and get a free listen to Funkallero @ frankgibson.com

It’s a rare blessing to have new Emily songs to cherish.
JazzGuitarLife Renovation
One of my favorite websites just finished with new renovations and is as informative and spectacular as ever. For all the latest interviews from your favorite jazz guitarist to related blogs, reviews of music CD’s and even lessons, this is the place to start. Anyone that digs jazz guitar will find their fix here. Created and ran by one of the nicest and most dedicated guys in the business, when you visit leave Lyle a note and let him know what you think of the changes and suggestions for future material. It’s a great resource for jazz guitar enthusiasts. ~
