Nineteen Years Gone

May 4th marked the 19th year since we lost Emily. I have yet to find an appropriate way to recognize or even reconcile this date. It is still a difficult and deeply emotional anniversary. What I can say is thanks to many of you who have expressed your thoughts both in private and public, for the enduring spirit and memory of Emily. She is always with us.

I recently introduced my brother to Emily and he had the same profound reaction when I told him of her passing.

Is the guy who got her on heroin still around?

He has to bear shame for life.

    Thanks for listening,
    Wyatt.

I just recently became aware of Emily and her contributions to the world of
music and jazz shortly after my 32nd birthday. I had searched for Wes Montgomery
on a video site and Emily’s videos were among the selections. After viewing
almost all of them I was hooked. Her technique, style, personality, sense of
humor, and passion were so abundant that she made it look easy. I was
excited to find this site to see more of her music. Thank you for this, it is a
wonderful site. I cannot remember where I read this, it may have been in some
notes here; someone mentioned that Wes Montgomery would be proud of Emily.
I strongly agree with that notion. I am hoping to work through her video lessons soon.
Thank you again for sharing Emily’s life with us.

I continue to be saddened by her loss. What a waste! (and I work with people with chemical dependency issues) Her music still touches me. She had such a knack for playing the RIGHT notes (3rds and 7ths?), as well as writing such nice tunes.

I APPRECIATE and enjoy this site. I’m hoping that Bill Milkowski or someone will someday write a biography. I REALLY enjoy the unpublished live reordings.

    THANKS.

lu: Thanks for your email, I’m glad you found my photo of Emily and were able to use it, there’s more but it would take quite a bit of effort to find, scan and post ‘em and I’m a bit busy just now……AB.
